<p> </p><p>Flood alleviation works are progressing very well on the Somerset Levels,
with many repairs and improvements expected to be completed before the coming winter.</p><p>
</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Within the schedule of works it is planned to dredge 8km of
the Rivers Parrett and Tone. So far 2.35km has been dredged, and this work is on schedule
to be completed by the autumn.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Environment Agency
has nearly 50 asset repair projects underway in Somerset, repairing banks, pumping
stations, sluices, gates and other mechanisms. The intention is to bring these assets
to their pre-flood condition by October 2014.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
