The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is the lead Government department on fire safety regulations and has responsibility for product safety. Defra’s Air Quality division has not made any assessment of the potential benefits to air quality of introducing fire toxicity assessments to fire safety tests of upholstered goods and construction materials.
