answer text <p>The shale gas industry has made a commitment to the Community Engagement Charter, co-ordinated by its representative body UK Onshore Oil and Gas, which includes a commitment to provide benefits to local communities at the exploration/appraisal stage of a minimum £100,000 per well site where hydraulic fracturing takes place.</p><p>The Infrastructure Act 2015 introduced a range of further requirements that must be met before an operator can carry out hydraulic fracturing. Once these provisions come into force, the Government will not issue a hydraulic fracturing consent unless satisfied that a scheme is in place to provide financial or other benefit for the local area.</p><p>A Sovereign Wealth Fund would ensure that revenues from shale gas and oil are put to good use. Proposals will be brought forward in the next Parliament.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is an obligation that the Government has placed on certain energy suppliers to reduce the UK’s energy consumption and support those living in fuel poverty by requiring those suppliers to provide households with energy efficiency improvements. It is designed for suppliers to meet their obligation in the most cost-effective way in order to limit the costs passed on to consumer energy bills within certain parameters.</p><p>15% of a suppliers’ activity towards meeting its Community Saving Carbon obligation must be met in rural areas. We’re also making changes to the scheme’s Affordable Warmth obligation up to 2017 so that as much as 30% of the homes helped by energy suppliers under that group will be non-gas fuelled households.</p> more like this
