We are also supporting better teaching of mathematics, physics and computing in schools, including a new £84 million programme to improve computing teaching.</p><p> </p><p>We are improving careers advice in schools – including ensuring that pupils are exposed to science, technology, engineering and mathematics jobs. These encounters with employers and apprenticeships are now built into school career programmes since we have updated the school and college statutory guidance.</p><p> </p><p>Engineering and all it brings is at the heart of economic success and provides exciting opportunities of fulfilling careers. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/03/2018 answer text <p>The table attached shows the amount funding paid by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) to the Workers Educational Association for the past three funding years (from August to July).</p><p> </p><p>The Workers Educational Association are in scope to receive an allocation and will be notified of the amount of funding available to them shortly.</p><p> </p><p>For 2018 to 2019, the ESFA will continue to allocate the Adult Education Budget (AEB).</p><p> </p><p>From 2019 to 2020, responsibility for the AEB will be devolved to eight Mayoral Combined Authorities (MCAs) and the Greater London Authority.</p><p> </p><p>Once authorities take on the role they will, within the agreed conditions of their devolution deal, be responsible for commissioning AEB provision in their local areas, having the freedom to set their own priorities, whilst still being subject to the statutory duties of my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State. Unemployed adults who are looking for work are eligible for full funding; all other learners are co-funded with the government contributing 50% of the course fee.</p><p>The table attached sets out the funding spent on ESOL from the AEB over the past five years based on what providers delivered. The table also shows the funding for English language projects by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government. The department cannot show future subject-specific allocations, as this is for each provider to determine based on local demand and need on an annual basis. In addition, from 2019/20, the government is devolving approximately 50% of the AEB to eight Combined Authorities and London (subject to meeting readiness conditions).
