answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/09/2017 answer text <p>Since January 2016, real-time data on Sure Start children’s centres and sites has been supplied by local authorities via the Department’s EduBase portal at: <a href="http://www.education.gov.uk/edubase/search.xhtml?clear=true" target="_blank">http://www.education.gov.uk/edubase/search.xhtml?clear=true</a>.</p><p>Based on the information supplied by local authorities[1], the attached spreadsheet provides details of the location of children’s centres that have closed since May 2015.</p><p>Councils are merging centres to allow services to be delivered more efficiently. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/12/2016 answer text <p>Local authorities have a duty to ensure there are sufficient centres to meet local need; and a duty to consult where changes are planned to local children’s centre provision.</p><p>As at 31 October 2016 there were 3,259 main children’s centres and sites open to families and children providing children's centre services as part of a network.
