answer text <p>The estimated number of educational psychologists who will retire in the next five years is outlined in table 1. This is based on the number of educational psychologists registered to work in England, collated by the Health and Care Professions Council[1]. answer text <p>Regional Schools Commissioners discuss the options for schools to convert to academy status with local authorities on a regular basis – and in the case of underperforming schools in particular, those discussions focus on which multi-academy trusts are the most effective way of securing sustainable improvement.</p><p>The White Paper <em>Educational Excellence Everywhere</em> makes clear that we want to ensure that we make best use of talented staff currently within local authorities to establish or join multi-academy trusts. Our discussions with local authorities will continue to look at the options available to harness that talent.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Since the free schools programme began, 81 free school projects have had their opening date deferred. In each case there was a need to balance the risk of opening on the planned date against all the elements that must be in place to ensure that a free school is successful when it opens. Our guidance makes clear that allowing a free school project to enter the “pre-opening” phase does not guarantee that the school will open on the date originally planned by the proposer group, or open at all.</p><p><br> Free schools offer excellent value for money. The National Audit Office found in 2013 that free schools were built 45% more cheaply than other school building programmes. The free schools that are already open will provide over 150,000 new places.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The transition period from statements to Education, Health and Care plans (EHCPs) runs until April 2018. Every local authority has published an individual Local Transition Plan setting out the timings for transfers to the new system. We are monitoring local authority progress and published figures about transition up to January 2015, returned by local authorities, in the Special Educational Needs in England Statistical First Release of May 2015[1]. We will publish the figures up to January 2016 in May 2016.</p><p> </p><p>The Department does not collect information on the number of children who are home educated. This information is collected by an external organisation, the Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP).</p><p> </p><p>The AEP are the main advertiser of educational psychology posts in England and send us their figures, on a monthly basis. This information is broken down by the total number of educational psychology posts being advertised in the private and public sector. These figures could include other areas of the public sector that employ the profession such as schools and NHS services, as well as local educational psychology services, so we are unable to provide this information.</p> more like this
