answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/09/2019 answer text <p>Local authorities are responsible for allocating public funding to youth services in their area. We believe they are best placed to know what is required in their communities.</p><p> </p><p>On 10th July this year, my department launched the review of the guidance which sets out the statutory duty placed on local authorities to provide appropriate local youth services. Preliminary roundtables were held with youth sector organisations and young people through the Government’s Youth Steering Group, focussing on the strengths and weaknesses of the current guidance. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/04/2018 answer text <p>The Government recognises that the causes of youth crime are complex and are often tied to local factors. Local authorities allocate funding and deliver youth services in line with local need. The Government has made over £200bn available to local authorities to spend on local services over this Spending Review.</p><p>The Government is committed to making sure all young people have opportunities to develop the skills, networks and resilience that can improve their life chances and support them to avoid negative pathways such as violence and crime. We are investing up to £80 million in voluntary and community organisations that work with young people through the Youth Investment and #iwill Funds.
