answer text <p>Social enterprises play an important role in the government’s mission of building an economy that works for everyone and we recognise the value of social enterprises in helping offenders find employment. The government is building on its role as a world leader in social enterprise by championing procurement for social value, supporting social enterprise awareness campaigns, building the social investment market, using social enterprises to address issues at scale and expanding social investment tax relief. Social enterprises employing or supporting ex-prisoners, or indeed anyone with a disadvantage that makes it difficult for them to access the job market, are included in the government’s social enterprise support set out above.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport wrote to the Welsh Minister for Lifelong Learning and Welsh Language in October 2016 to invite Welsh Government representation on the selection panel for the BBC Board member for Wales, and inviting comments on the draft role specification.</p><p> </p><p>The Welsh Government’s representative sat on both sift and interview panels for the role and agreed on the list of appointable candidates.</p><p> </p><p>The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport wrote to the Welsh Minister for Lifelong Learning and Welsh Language on 27th February 2017 seeking agreement with the Secretary of State’s preferred candidate, in accordance with Clause 23 (9) of the BBC Charter.</p><p> </p><p>On 28th February 2017, the Welsh Minister for Lifelong Learning and Welsh Language wrote to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport stating that the Welsh Government was unable to endorse the preferred candidate, despite the Welsh Government representatives having deemed the candidate as appointable at interview. This is very unfortunate, and no good reason has been given.</p>

answer text <p>The Royal Opera House (ROH), which encompasses the Royal Ballet and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House is an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation. Both the Royal Opera House and the ROH Bridge Delivery Organisation grants for 2015-2018 have funding conditions linked to increasing participation in the arts and outreach work.</p><p> </p><p>Based at High House Production Park in Thurrock, the ROH Bridge Organsation works with schools, arts organisations, museums, libraries, heritage sites, and councils across Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and North Kent.The ROH also works with BP to produce Big Screen live relays of opera and ballet direct from Covent Garden to sites across the country. This enables ROH to reach as many people as possible with exhilarating live performances, allowing them to experience the very best of opera and ballet in their hometown for free.</p><p> </p><p>The ROH is also required to contribute to the Arts Councils goals, including Goal 5 whereby they are expected to establish a working relationship with their local Bridge organisations, engage with Arts Award, establish a working relationship with their local Music education hub or hubs, where appropriate, and support schools to achieve an Artsmark.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

answer text <p>As part of the Government's BBC Charter Review, it commissioned a report from Oliver and Ohlbaum Associates on BBC's market impact and distinctiveness. The report can be found here:</p><p> </p><p>https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/504012/FINAL_-_BBC_market_impact_assessment.pdf</p><p> </p><p>The Government is also clear that it wants to embed distinctiveness within the mission and purposes of the BBC. In terms of radio output, this includes improving the focus on promoting UK talent, particularly new UK acts, on Radio 1 and Radio 2.</p><p> </p><p>Ofcom, as the BBC's new regulator, will set the operating licence for BBC UK Public Services and will consult on these in due course.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Until we have left the EU, the UK will remain a member of the EU with all of the rights and obligations that membership entails, including transposition of all new EU legislation with a transposition deadline prior to Brexit.
