answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/11/2017 answer text <p>This Government is committed to supporting the regeneration of our town centres.</p><p>We have confirmed the permanent doubling of Small Business Rate Relief, meaning that 600,000 small businesses now pay no business rates at all; we launched the High Street Pledge and a digital high street pilot scheme; and we are celebrating our high streets and town centres through the hugely successful Great British High Street Awards.</p><p>Since 2010, we have given over £18 million to towns – funding and upskilling local teams of people through the Town Team Programme, boosting struggling town centres with the High Streets Innovation Fund and launching successful initiatives such as “Love Your Local Market”.</p><p>Town centres have also benefited from funding that we have made available for local economic development, including the Coastal Communities Fund, which has invested over £132 million in 131 coastal projects across England since 2012. Our Affordable Homes Programme is on track to deliver 170,000 new affordable homes between 2011 and 2015, with £19.5 billion of public and private funding. Over 144,000 homes have already been delivered</p><p> </p><p>This Government has demonstrated its continued commitment to the building of affordable housing. The Government’s National Infrastructure Plan announced an extension of affordable housing capital investment to 2018-19 and 2019-20, of £1.9 billion to ensure that an average 55,000 new affordable homes a year continue to be delivered. This will bring the delivery total to 275,000 across 2015-20. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/09/2014 answer text <p>Through the Localism Act we have strengthened enforcement measures, supporting local authorities to tackle unauthorised development by those who choose to ignore planning rules. These measures include powers to deal effectively with retrospective and misleading planning applications and an increase in the maximum fine for non-compliance with a notice requiring the conditions on planning permission to be met.</p><p>We have also lifted the previous Administration’s restrictions on the use of Temporary Stop Notices to enable councils to take early and effective action against unauthorised sites.</p><p>Our planning policy for traveller sites, issued in March 2012, removed the last Administration’s planning guidance (Circular 01/06) which restricted the ability of councils to initiate enforcement action. We are currently consulting on, amongst other matters, whether further improvements can be made to planning policy and guidance to deter intentional unauthorised occupation of land and to assist councils faced with large unauthorised developments.</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/planning-and-travellers-proposed-changes-to-planning-policy-and-guidance" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/planning-and-travellers-proposed-changes-to-planning-policy-and-guidance</a></p><p>There are a range of powers available to deal with unauthorised sites and encampments. We have reviewed those powers and in August 2013 sent all council leaders updated guidance, reminding them to act swiftly against unauthorised occupation of public and private land.
