answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/02/2024 answer text <p>In 2023 in the UK, 494 companies with a SIC code 49410 - Freight Transport by Road - entered insolvency.</p><p>At Autumn Statement 2023, the Government announced continuing support for haulage companies, freezing HGV Vehicle Excise Duty and the HGV Levy in 2024/25. The agreement entered into force for all parties in June 2022.</p><p> </p><p>In the review, the UK will consider the interests of businesses and consumers alongside our development objectives. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/02/2024 answer text <p>The Chancellor announced in the 2023 Autumn Statement business rates support worth £4.3 billion over the next 5 years, including an extension of the 75 per cent relief for retail properties – a £2.4bn tax cut building on the previous £3.7 billion worth of business rates relief and nearly £8 billion of energy support in 2021 and 2022, along with £16bn business rates support throughout Covid-19. We’re also working with the British Beauty Council and others on improving the sector's talent pipeline.</p><p> </p><p>Overall, the sector is growing. The number of businesses in the sector in 2023 are 17% above 2017 levels[1], while output increased 1.1% in 2022 compared with 2021.[2]</p><p> </p><p>[1] ONS - UK business: activity, size and location, 2023. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/02/2024 answer text <p>Decisions on export licensing are based on the UK's Strategic Export Licensing Criteria.</p><p> </p><p>The Governments export licences are kept under careful and continual review, and can amend, suspend or revoke extant licences, or refuse new licence applications, where they are inconsistent with these criteria.</p><p> </p><p>The Government respects the role and independence of the International Court of Justice. However, the Government have stated that we have considerable concerns about this case.</p><p> </p><p>Israel has the right to defend itself against Hamas, provided this is proportionate and within the bounds of International Humanitarian Law, as we’ve said from the outset. We are promising fair and equal treatment of postmasters, not a set amount of money. The amount we spend will depend on how many people come forward and the claims which are submitted.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has to date committed a maximum of just over £1bn to ensure postmasters are compensated fairly. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/02/2024 answer text <p>Ministers and officials meet with Royal Mail regularly to discuss a range of issues in relation to its role as the universal postal service provider.</p><p> </p><p>I recently met the CEO of Royal Mail’s parent company to raise concerns about Royal Mail’s performance. He recognised that the current level of service is not good enough and has said that improving quality of service is his top priority. I note that to improve performance Royal Mail has recruited an additional 3,000 postmen and is continuing to actively recruit new postal staff.
