answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/08/2016 answer text <p>The British Chambers of Commerce is an important stakeholder for government and we engage actively with their senior team and the network of 52 accredited Chambers of Commerce in the UK.</p><p> </p><p>The British Chambers of Commerce is also a delivery partner for the Overseas Business Network initiative – a programme to increase the number and range of private sector partners supporting UK exporters in overseas markets. In 2013/14 and 2014/15, UK Trade &amp; Investment trialled a number of initiatives with the British Chambers of Commerce, including co-ordinating UK-end activity and accrediting the overseas delivery partners.</p><p> </p><p>Following a review in November 2014, it was agreed that responsibility for co-ordinating the UK-end activity would be shifted from the British Chambers of Commerce to UK Trade and Investment’s regional delivery contracts with effect from April 2015. As has been made clear, while the UK remains a member of the EU, current EU funding arrangements continue unchanged. I issued a statement on 28 June addressing the most immediate questions raised by the sector (<a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/statement-on-higher-education-and-research-following-the-eu-referendum" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/news/statement-on-higher-education-and-research-following-the-eu-referendum</a>). The recent modification programme for tumble dryers announced by Whirlpool is being overseen by Peterborough Council as the Primary Authority. If it is not, the consumer may be entitled to a remedy under the Act, for example, a repair or replacement of the software or, if this is not possible, the right to demand some money back. Some of our competitor economies (like France, Finland, and the Netherlands) use a variety of financial instruments to support innovative businesses. We have engaged with their innovation agencies to learn from these established approaches to support, drive and encourage innovation in the UK. We are conducting market research to engage with, and fully understand the needs of, innovative businesses of all sizes and across many UK industry sectors with a high level of innovation, including life sciences. As part of the first phase of implementation the Government will announce the details of a pilot and accompanying evaluation in late 2016.
