It is too early following the EU referendum to make a detailed assessment of its
impact on the future recruitment levels of Civil Servants.

Earlier this year,
departments published their Single Departmental Plans (SDPs), setting out the key
programmes of work required to deliver the Government’s Manifesto commitments. Departments
have been developing plans to ensure they have the workforce required to deliver their
SDPs, and this has not changed following the referendum.

Inevitably, leaving
the EU will impact on the shape, size, skills and type of workforce we need but it
is important that we understand our future workforce requirements and plan for these
in a considered, coordinated and consistent manner across the Civil Service. The Cabinet
Office is playing, and will continue to, play, a key role in facilitating this across
the Civil Service.
