<p>The department publishes the number of new affordable homes for purchase completed
(including acquisitions) and starts on site. The number of new completions and starts

. <br> <br> We do not set delivery targets for social housing. The Government is investing
£12.2 billion in affordable housing over 5 years from next year. This includes the
new £11.5 billion Affordable Homes Programme, which will provide up to 180,000 new
affordable homes, should economic conditions allow. In this new Programme, 10 per
cent of delivery outside of London will be targeted at rural communities.</p>
