answer text
The Department is doing everything appropriate to prepare for leaving the European Union. We want to reassure patients that our plans should ensure the uninterrupted supply of medicines and medical products once we have left the EU. This includes the supply of bio-aortic root replacement devices.

The Department, as part of our EU exit preparations, is implementing a multi-layered approach to mitigate potential disruption to supply, which consists of stockpiling where possible, securing freight capacity, changing or clarifying regulatory requirements, procuring additional warehousing, working closely with industry to improve trader readiness and putting in place the National Supply Disruption Response to manage potential shortages.
more like this

answer text
We have no such plans at present. Everybody has the right to receive safe, high-quality care. If care has fallen short of this, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) can use its powers to take action against those responsible.

The CQC has a key responsibility in the overall assurance of safety and quality of health and adult social care services in England and has commissioned two independent reviews to look at what it could have done differently or better in terms of its regulation and inspection of Whorlton Hall and other services of this kind.

We are working with the CQC to look at ways in which we can improve the way we hold large independent sector mental health providers with complex structures to account for quality and safety.
more like this
