<p>All cases will be treated on a case by case basis based on any evidence the applicant
can provide and assessed on the balance of probability.</p><p>The Home Office will
accept all sorts of documentation, including National Insurance numbers, to help build
a picture of the applicant’s life in the UK.</p><p>Where applicants cannot provide
evidence of their residence in the UK, the Home Office will work with them and other
government departments to build a picture of their life in the UK to ensure they can
confirm the applicant’s status.</p>
