answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/03/2017 answer text <p>The vast majority of calls to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) are either free or charged at local rate. However, the DVLA does operate three premium rate phone lines. One phone line allows car hire companies to check the entitlement to drive of those wishing to hire vehicles where needed. The revenue which DVLA receives covers the cost of providing this service to commercial companies.</p><p> </p><p>The other two numbers allow customers to use translation services when contacting DVLA. As well as monitoring traffic flow data, they assess information from local development plans and local highway and planning authorities to identify when and where additional junctions are required.</p><p> </p><p>I understand you met recently with Highways England at which unfortunately you were advised that a new junction could not be built to current standards at this location on the M27 due to other road improvements made since the motorway was constructed. The scenarios will test various uncertainties in some of the main drivers of road traffic, to ensure road investment decisions are robust against a range of possible futures.</p><p> </p><p>However, the Government has no plans to restrict the number of goods vehicles over the next decade. The strategic approach to aspects of traffic does include co-ordination internationally and with the automobile industry, for example about vehicle standards.
