answer text <p>NHS England has advised that there is currently one anti-cancer therapy available through the Cancer Drugs Fund that is used in pancreatic cancers. This is Abraxane (albumin bound paclitaxel).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>NHS England has estimated that, since Abraxane was added to the national Cancer Drugs Fund list in March 2014, the estimated spend in that financial year was approximately £13,000.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Based on current application rates for this drug, NHS England estimates that approximately £4.09 million will be spent on this drug in 2014-15.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Prior to April 2013, information on the indication for which a cancer drug was provided through the Fund was not collected.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government considers that animal cruelty is abhorrent. In addition to strict firearms legislation governing the possession carrying and use of guns, it is already an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal. answer text <p>The purpose of the visa system is to screen applicants before they make their journey to the UK. It is an effective tool for the UK in reducing illegal immigration, tackling organised crime and protecting national security. The current system of screening applicants before they arrive also speeds up processing at the port of arrival.</p><p>When applying for a visa, students are required to show that they have been accepted to study at an education provider in the UK. They must also demonstrate they have a sufficient level of English, funds to maintain themselves, relevant qualifications and a genuine intention to study.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Since 2012 Sport England has made disability sport a key part of its strategy. The organisation is currently investing over £171 million to get more disabled people playing sport, including over £47 million to make sports facilities more accessible. Through its Get Equipped fund, Sport England has invested £1.15 million into 141 local sports clubs to purchase disability equipment. All of Sport England’s major capital investments are required to make their facilities accessible. To support designers, building owners and operators create accessible facilities Sport England publishes online tools and guidance. answer text <p>Supporting children with speech, language and communications needs (SLCN) is extremely important. The Children and Families Act 2014 provides the statutory framework for identifying, assessing and providing for children with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities, including those with speech, language and communication needs. Guidance to early years settings, schools, colleges and local authorities on carrying out their duties under the Act is provided through the SEN and Disability Code of Practice.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Education settings are responsible for deciding what specialist expertise they need to meet children and young people’s needs. The Department for Education is taking action to support the development of the workforce in a number of ways.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The ‘Early Language Development Programme’ is raising awareness and providing practical training to professionals to improve early speech, language and communication development amongst children aged 0-5. The programme was commissioned and funded by the Department for Education and delivered by a consortium led by the specialist voluntary and community sector organisation I CAN. The programme also supports parents and carers with knowledge and skills to support their children’s speech, language and communication development.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Funding is being provided to the Communication Trust which enables it to offer expert advice and support materials on SLCN for parents, young people, schools, colleges and other practitioners across education, health and care. It also enables them to disseminate the findings of the Better Communication Research Programme so as to promote the use of evidence based interventions to support children and young people with SLCN and a focus among commissioners on outcomes and value for money; and provide advice on specialist training and development for teachers and professionals in schools and colleges.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The National College for Teaching and Learning is developing specialist resources for initial teacher training and new advanced level online modules on special educational needs - including resources on speech and language needs, to enhance teachers’ knowledge, understanding and skills.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The National Scholarship Fund for teachers and support staff provides opportunities to apply for funding to undertake postgraduate qualifications and training in supporting children with SEN and disabilities, including those with speech, language and communication needs. Over 1,000 teachers and support staff have been supported through the fund since 2010.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The National Association for Special Educational Needs, with funding from the Department for Education, has developed a new SEND gateway - an online portal offering education professionals free, easy access to high quality information, resources and training for meeting the needs of children with SEN and disabilities. <a title="" href="http://3dcpri-papp09/new_parliamentaryquestion/HL3942-%20Storey/Draft/HL3942%20SpAds%20Amends%2009.01.15.docx#_ftn1" target="_blank">[1]</a></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The AfA3As organisation is being funded to make the highly successful Achievement for All (AfA) approach available widely. It provides whole-school support to over 2000 schools to improve outcomes for pupils with SEN and disabilities.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Around 11,000 new SEN co-ordinators have been funded to undertake the Master's-level National Award for SEN co-ordination. answer text <p>On 9 January Government announced that almost £10 million will be given to local authorities and to national activity to boost the number of people registering to vote around the country. This is in addition to the £4.2 million announced last year.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>£6.8 million of the funding has been allocated to local authorities so that they can expand their programmes of canvassing and other activities aimed at encouraging people to register to vote.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Up to £2.5 million will be used to fund wider activity, including working with national organisations to encourage groups who are not as well represented on the electoral register in general, such as young people including students and overseas voters.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this
