The Offshore Helicopter Safety Liaison Leadership Group (OHSLG), which is co-chaired by the Civil Aviation Authority, includes representation from key organisations from across the industry, including helicopter operators, the oil and gas industry, the trade unions and ‘Step Change in Safety’. Trade unions will be able to engage with the review through the OHSLG.
Department for Transport Ministers and officials have regular discussions with the CAA, including on the Drone Operator Registration Scheme and competency testing requirements, which will apply from November 2019. These will apply to all those in the UK operating drones or model aircraft between 250 grams and 20 kilograms. These will apply to all unmanned aircraft below 250g, including drones and model aircraft.
These are part of a package of measures to address the safety and security challenges that unmanned aircraft pose. They will help law enforcement agencies to tackle the misuse of such aircraft effectively, alongside new Police powers to be introduced in the forthcoming Drones Bill.

Government has committed £40 million in projects to support innovation in wireless and on-street electric vehicle charging technology.
£10 million of this investment is supporting the trial of wireless charging technologies for taxis in Nottingham, enabling drivers to “top-up” charge while waiting for their next fare. This project considers whether wireless charging can deliver additional environmental benefits for heavily utilised electric vehicles, by reducing the need for large batteries or range extender engines.
Wireless charging has several other potential commercial and consumer benefits, including improved accessibility.
